Experimental procedure
Sample preparation
1. In the sample preparation process, it must be ensured that the drawn sample and the overall sludge sample are homogeneous and can represent the overall sample.
2. Large objects in the sample should be removed, and the sample should be filtered using a 5 mm sieve.
3. In order to reduce the denaturation of the sample due to temperature, the temperature of the sample should reach room temperature before the test.
4. Sludge samples should not be stored for a long time, because biodegradation will affect the test results.
CST test procedure
1. Insert the CST test socket into the CST tester.
2. Keep the two dosing tubes dry and clean.
3. Insert the filter paper from the top to the bottom, and gently press the upper cover to make the electrode plug and the filter paper contact. Excessive pressure may cause damage to the filter paper.
4. Choose a short liquid addition tube for quick sludge filtration, or a long liquid addition tube for sludge slow filtration, insert the liquid addition tube into the test seat, rotate the liquid addition tube, and gently press to make the filter paper evenly stressed.
5. Press the switch button to turn on the CST tester.
6. Press the test button to check that the counter reading is 0.
7. Inject the sludge sample into the filling tube, the amount of sludge is about 10 ~ 20ml. If the CST test is over, and there is no sludge in the feed pipe, or only small sludge, the test needs to be repeated!
8. Press the save button to save the measured data. At the same time, you can also query the previous data with the query button, delete the previous data with the delete button, and average the previous data with the average button.
9 Remove the dosing tube.
10. Remove the filter paper, and clean the test seat and liquid addition tube with cotton paper for the next test.
Interpretation of CST test results
In general, the lower the CST value, the stronger the sludge permeability. The following CST values ​​are acceptable for typical sludge with a concentration of 5%, and the filter funnel diameter is 1.8 cm:
Osmotic pressure is less than 10 but increases with filtration time
When the filter paper mesh is 15-20, the filtering effect is stable.
The centrifuge is less than or equal to 15, and the efficiency is stable.
CST measurement accuracy
The total error rate of CST is about 6% -10%. If the error exceeds 10%, the test process needs to be improved. It takes 4 seconds for water to penetrate the 1.8 cm funnel. It takes 10 seconds to pass through a 1 cm funnel. If the CST of the sludge is close to the CST of the water, then the test results are meaningless.
