Parents pay attention! The quality of children's furniture is 30% unqualified.

According to the latest national inspection results of children's furniture products, the unqualified rate of children's furniture is 30%. That is to say, in the current children's furniture market, up to 30% of the products are unqualified.

30% of children's furniture quality inspection failed

A total of 50 products from 50 companies were sampled in this random inspection, and 15 of the 15 companies were unqualified. It covers five regions of Jiangsu, Guangdong, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Shanghai, covering the main producing areas of children's furniture in China.

As a special item for children, children's furniture has strict requirements on the edge, the tip, the gap of the hole and the release of harmful substances.

Guo Hongzhi, engineer of Shenzhen Institute of Metrology and Quality Inspection:

This product is not qualified in the standard mainly involves two aspects, one is structural safety, one is the limit of harmful substances, such as formaldehyde emission. Structural safety is mainly concerned with safety issues. In children's play, unqualified products may cause some collisions and bring some physical trauma. The release of harmful substances from formaldehyde may have a certain impact on children's healthy development.

Excessive formaldehyde content in furniture will cause serious damage to children's health

The reporter learned that children's furniture refers to furniture products intended for children aged 3 to 14 years, including chair stools, tables, cabinets, single-layer beds, sofas and spring soft mattresses. There were 5 unqualified items detected this time, which were edge and tip, hole and gap, small cabinet stability test with push-pull parts, formaldehyde emission and warning sign.

For children's furniture, the most concerned item for consumers is the amount of formaldehyde released. This sampling test detected a number of harmful substances including formaldehyde emission, surface coating migratory elements and free formaldehyde.

The tester took ten samples in proportion and allowed to stand at a constant temperature of 20 ° C for 24 hours, and took the aqueous solution to detect the formaldehyde emission of the sample. According to the national standard, the amount of formaldehyde released should be less than or equal to 1.5 milligrams per liter. In this test, the makeup stool produced by Chengdu Runnian Furniture Co., Ltd. was found to have a formaldehyde emission of 2.4 milligrams per liter.

Experts told reporters that due to the continuous improvement of standards, from the test results in recent years, the qualification rate of children's furniture products in the content of harmful substances is rising, but there are still some products with excessive formaldehyde content. Children's furniture with excessive formaldehyde will release formaldehyde for a long time and enter the body through the respiratory tract, skin, etc., causing serious damage to the child's nervous system, respiratory system, and hematopoietic system.

The failure of the warning sign is the hardest hit

In addition to the excessive release of formaldehyde, another major disaster area for children's furniture products to supervise the spot check is the warning sign. This time, three samples were still unqualified.

According to the national standard, the company should indicate the applicable age range of the product in the instructions for use. If the product has folding or adjusting device, the warning sign “Warning! Caution pinch” should be marked in the appropriate position of the product. And if there is no correct warning sign, it is likely to cause harm to children during installation and use.

The products that failed the sampling inspection warning items include:

Children's plastic chair produced by Guangdong Shepherd Industrial Co., Ltd.;

Tong Mengle Walnut Single Bed produced by Xuzhou Tongmeng Children's Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Bedside table produced by Leerju (Huizhou) Furniture Co., Ltd.

Among them, one company did not provide any product manuals and warning signs.

The most common items for sampling unqualified samples are edges and tips.

The items with the most unqualified samples were edge and tip, and 6 samples were found to be unqualified. The inspectors told reporters that the three edges of the edge and the tip, the hole and the gap, and the stability of the small cabinet with push-pull parts belong to the structural safety project. The edge and the tip detection are to measure whether the sharpness of the corner of the furniture will cause harm to the user.

The tester told the reporter that since the user of the children's furniture is a child of 3 to 14 years old, the standard requires that the four outer corners that the child can reach must be rounded, and the radius of the outer corner must be greater than or equal to 10 mm to prevent use. Or injury to children during a collision.

Samples with unsatisfactory edge and tip sampling include:

Tong Mengle Walnut Single Bed produced by Xuzhou Tongmeng Children's Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Children's chair produced by Oles Furniture Factory in Zhouwangmiao Town, Haining City;

Book stand produced by Foshan Jinguangtuo Metal Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Bookcase produced by Foshan Ali Shunlin Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Bedside table produced by Leerju (Huizhou) Furniture Co., Ltd.;

The bedside table produced by Huizhou Jade Industrial Co., Ltd.

5 batch sample hole and gap items failed

In addition to the edges and tips, there were 5 batches of sample wells and gap items that failed.

The diameter and depth of the hole in the children's furniture are clearly defined in the standard, that is, the hole and the gap of the product rigid material with a depth of more than 10 mm, the diameter or gap should be less than 6 mm or more than 12 mm; the gap between the moving parts of the product can be contacted It should be less than 5mm or greater than or equal to 12mm. Experts told reporters that this size regulation can ensure that children's fingers can not reach into the gap of the hole, or it can be easily taken out once it is inserted.

The unqualified products involved in this sampling include:

Stool produced by Xuzhou Lianghui Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Children's table produced by Xuzhou Muhuayuan Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Lift chair produced by Xuzhou Xiangyuyuan Furniture Co., Ltd.;

Small stool produced by Xuzhou Fubang Wood Industry Co., Ltd.;

The stool produced by Xuzhou Shengpike Furniture Co., Ltd.

What is more noteworthy is that there are two samples in this sampling that have the failure of the small cabinet stability test project of the push-pull parts, which are the country bedside table produced by Foshan Nanhai Xiqiao Meizhonglong Furniture Factory and Foshan Jinjin. The bedside table produced by Kaidi Furniture Co., Ltd.

The stability test of the small cabinet with push-pull parts is to simulate the small drawer of the cabinet with a certain weight when the child is used, to see if the cabinet can be kept stable. The inspector places the sample on a flat surface, measures the height and width of the sample, and the volume of the drawer. The load of the drawer is calculated according to the formula, and then the weight is placed in the drawer. When the drawer is pulled, there is a sample to be tested. Tipping in an instant.

Unsatisfactory stability of children's furniture can cause fatal injuries

Testers said that children's furniture is unsatisfactory and that damage to children can be fatal. From 2016 to 2017, IKEA recalled the “Malm” series of drawers several times. The reason for the recall was that the product was tipped over during use and had caused eight children to die. The inspectors emphasized that in order to avoid damage caused by the cabinet falling over, the installation of such children's furniture should be strictly in accordance with the requirements of the instructions.

According to China's national standard, the push-pull small cabinets above 600mm must be fixed to the wall, and depending on the size of the cabinet, the bearing weight of the drawer also has different requirements.

Experts remind consumers to take into account the special nature of children's furniture, pay more attention to structural safety when purchasing, try to measure the edge of the edge and the gap between the holes.

For indicators such as the amount of harmful substances such as formaldehyde emission, in addition to distinguishing by smell, experts gave advice on the purchase: now the general furniture mainly has two materials, one artificial board, one is solid wood. Generally speaking, the formaldehyde content in the wood-based panel is higher than that of solid wood. If you only look at the amount of formaldehyde released, children's furniture that buys solid wood will be better than wood-based panels.
