This study used MIFE technology (non-damage micro-measurement technology), patch clamp, membrane potential technology and other methods to determine the relevant characteristics of different varieties of barley in the process of salt resistance. It was found that limiting Na + entry into the xylem is not a key factor for barley salt resistance. The Na + concentration in the xylem of salt-tolerant varieties is as high as that of sensitive varieties of barley. Salt-tolerant varieties have the ability to maintain a higher xylem K + / Na + ratio, which can effectively block the accumulation of Na + in the leaves, indicating that K + will enter the xylem more efficiently.
