KWH Plastics Co., Ltd. recently introduced a new series of oxygen barrier film labels. The company added oxygen barrier agents to films used to produce in-mold labels and packaging materials. Materials like Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EvOH for short) can be used as oxygen barriers.
"The biggest problem encountered in the manufacturing process of in-mold label film is anti-static performance. (Only with anti-static properties, can we guarantee the smooth service of film materials, in order to print smoothly," said KWH. "KWH Plastics has achieved success in these areas. Previously, the standard film in the mold was now a 7-layer oxygen barrier in-mold label film."
The launch of new products mainly aims to provide the industry with lighter weight injection-molded packaging to replace the previous cans and glass bottles. Existing injection-molded packaging can also be upgraded to oxygen-barrier packaging. It should be emphasized that the packaging design and injection molding equipment must be able to allow the in-mold label to cover the entire packaging.
The oxygen transmission rate of the oxygen barrier material developed by KWH Plastics is 1 to 3cc/m2*d (23degC, 65percentRH), which can effectively extend the storage time of most foods.
According to KWH Plastics, the company's newly introduced oxygen-impermeable inner label film has basically the same antistatic properties as its standard mold film. According to tests, this material cannot be stripped after injection molding with a variety of PP materials.
