2016 Pentawards Grand Prize Winner

[China Packaging Network News] In 2016, Pentawards ushered in its tenth birthday, as the world's first and only competition focused on a variety of packaging design, with a "package design industry Oscar". This year's Pentawards review team received a total of 1843 entries from 55 categories in 54 countries on 5 continents, an increase of nearly 10% from the upper limit.

After a round of rigorous review by the stars of the international judging panel, a total of 1 diamond award (ie, grand prize), 5 platinum awards, 47 gold awards, and several silver awards were selected.

After months of scouring the waves, a work stands out and takes off the tenth Pentawards' highest honor - the Diamond Award. This is the packaging of the Domino's Pizza by jones knowles ritchie design company.

The brand design agency JKR has redesigned the take-out box for pizza chain giant Domino's Pizza, using the red and blue brand logos to build the packaging, turning the combination of the sale into a combination of design and life. This bold design magnifies the brand logo to the extreme, bringing great visual impact and topicality.

JKR’s Director of Global Strategy, Lee Rolston explained: “Delome is the world’s largest pizza chain, but after decades of localization, its packaging design has become a medium for all kinds of information, and brand logos have been squeezed into. In order to make Dharma more visible and easier to be recognized and remembered by consumers, we need to maximize its features and charm, and to fully develop the Everbright brand, its unique graphic logo and fun, and create a bold, simple design. Consumer communication and sharing."

Through extensive research, JKR found that 96% of Domino's Pizza in the UK was sold in pairs because of the long-term buy-one-get-one-off policy. This recognition triggered Jkr's inspiration, turning the logo into a box itself, creating a combination of blue and red packaging and sending it to consumers in pairs.

JKR Creative Director, Sean Thomas added: “Our creative goal is to strengthen the brand's uniqueness and enable people to choose Domino’s Pizza without thinking, not the other brands. The Domino’s domino logo is its charm and unforgettable. At this point, we seize this and present it to the utmost level. Such packaging brings a strong visual impact at the moment when the product is delivered to the front door. Consumers order pizza instead of pizza.

In the new design pilot phase, Delta Music has received enthusiastic responses from branches, franchisees and customers. They have no disguised love of new packaging. Some branches even received this kind of involuntary invitation. Customers liked the box too much and asked them for an empty pair of boxes! Being recognized by Pentawards for recognition is also well-deserved.

In this year's Pentawards, JKR's New York branch won a gold and silver trophy with a limited edition of Budweiser's new global installation and the Freedom of Goddess. This is a rewarding achievement and a icing on the cake.
