Composition of internal profile of ICC Profile

It is not too difficult to understand more information in the ICC Profile. Some commercial or free software is available on the market.

The file size of the ICC Profile is generally small, from a minimum of 4K to less than 2MB. The inner data structure is generally divided into three parts, including Profile Header, Tag Table and Tagged Element Data.

All ICC Profiles have the same header structure regardless of the input device, display, output device, or color gamut, but the values ​​in each column will be different. Let's look at the more important data fields.

CMM Type:

This is the preferred CMM that the ICC Profile wants to use most. If companies that make ICC Profile software also have their own CMM, they will be added here. For example: "appl" is Apple, "ADBE" is Adobe, "Lino" is Linotype-Hell, "KCMS" is Kodak, "HDM" is Heidelberg.

Version:

The version of the ICC Profile. The latest is now 2.4.0. However, most of the profile versions of the ICC Profile software have not yet reached 2.4.0, most of which are 2.0.0, 2.1.0, or 2.2.0. Such as OX02000000 is version 2.0.0; if it is 2.4.0 version, it should be OX02400000.

Profile Class:

ICC Profile category. For example: "scnr" is the input device, "mntr" is the monitor, "prtr" is the output device, "spac" is the color space, and "link" is the device link profile (Device link profile)

Data Color Space:

The color gamut type of the device, for example, "CMYK" is CMYK, "RGB" is RGB, "GRAY" is Gray, "MCH6" is 6-color Hi-Fi Color, and "3CLR" is a color model of 3 colors.
