At the end of 2003, the Aerospace division of PPG Industries of Glendale, Calif., requested the Laminated division of LPS Industries to re-examine the existing membrane/tin foil/film composite bag sealing problem. LPS has provided PPG with one-sided plain pattern printed bags for more than 10 years. A thermal transfer label is attached to the bag to distinguish between different packaged products. However, PPG decided to print all the designs and labels by printing the entire “roll†blank package through the press. The labeling process was automated and the labeling cost was saved. LPS proposes the concept of a one-time molding of laminated film bags so that PPG can be used with existing thermal transfer printers.
After the trial period, LPS developed a roll label product for PPG. Now LPS offers products containing 3 roll bags and 1 thermal transfer ribbon. Help PPG to transfer all of the packaging parts to a small unit on the packaging line, streamlining packaging production and inventory, reducing manual labor and material costs.
