Toyobo Japan Develops Technology to Improve PE Transparency

A few days ago, Toyobo announced that it has developed a new catalyst technology that uses aluminum to increase the transparency of polyethylene. The technology will be sold to textile and catalyst companies in August this year.

The new technology is to treat aluminum after it has been made to have the property of overlapping with polyethylene, and it can produce more transparent polyethylene products than the previous ammonia catalysts, and it can also reduce the environmental burden.

Although the new polyethylene products are relatively expensive, producing products with equal transparency is cheaper than using lanthanum-based catalysts. It is expected that sales of production licenses and catalysts will reach a scale of 10 billion yen in 2010.
