Three Australian students created a driverless car that was controlled by a smartphone. However, don't feel "shocked" first, this is still just a toy car.
In fact, it is a bit far-fetched to call this car "vehicle" because it is just a toy and it looks like a toddler. The three creators, Tommi Sullivan, Michael Lennon and Yukito Tsunoda, are from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia. They used this "four-wheel plastic toy" and Android smartphone to create a fully automated driverless car. .
“Usually, a driverless car uses a camera or sensor or a top radar to detect the surrounding road conditions. The most special thing about this car is that most sensors come from mobile phones,†said Sullivan, one of the inventors. He is studying for his bachelor's degree. This car can identify the route through the mobile phone GPS system, use the camera to observe the surrounding road conditions and find the danger. The smartphone sends this series of conditions to the engine, causing it to automatically accelerate, turn and stop.
For the inventor, the next step is to perfect each part and use a more powerful brake motor. Yukito said frankly, "Our ultimate goal is to be able to implement our plan and drive the car to the streets."
