Mountain peak profile
Jiagang Peak, 6444 meters above sea level. It is the main peak of the Shinsegae Gangri Mountains in the Gangdise Mountain branch. It is located at 88.6 degrees east longitude and 30.8 degrees north latitude. It is located in Shenzha County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. Only about 10 km from Shenzha County, you can clearly see the Jiagang Peak in Shenzha County. Shinsa County is approximately 185km from Shigatse and approximately 300km from the highway. It can be reached in one day.
The Shenzha County where Jiagang Peak is located is not only connected with Nanmulin County and Shigatse City via the Shennan Highway, but also connected with Bangor and Nagqu through provincial roads. Naqu has the Qinghai-Tibet Highway connected with Lhasa, Andor, and Golmud. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway also has a station at Naqu. Relatively convenient traffic.
Shenzha County is located in the Great Lakes Basin of the southern Qiangtang Plateau. The terrain is relatively gentle, and hills, mountains and basins alternate. The relative height difference between the top of the hill and the mountain is generally between 300-500 meters. The average altitude is 4700-4800 meters. 2. Climate
The Shenzha County where Jiagang Peak is located belongs to the semi-arid monsoon climate zone on the plateau. The annual sunshine duration is 2915.5 hours. The annual rainfall of 298.6 millimeters is mainly concentrated in July and August, and is mainly due to intermittent precipitation, with little systematic precipitation. The air is thin and the climate is cold and dry. The average annual wind level above 10 is 104.3 days, but it is basically in the winter and spring. The maximum wind speed in the summer is generally 34 grades, and the prevailing wind direction is west wind and southwest wind. The duration of the frosty period is 279.1 days.
Located in the northern part of Tibet, Jiagang Peak is similar to the Sandang Kangsang Peak in the northern part of Tibet. However, the annual precipitation is only about two-thirds of the Sanamang Kangsang area. The Peking Mountains Eagles successfully climbed the Sandang Kangsang twice in 2000 and 2005. However, due to the distance from Namco, the water surface area and water volume near Grenchon is far less than that of Namco. Therefore, the microclimate conditions such as regional precipitation affected by the lake are better than Sandun Kangsan.
3. Into the mountain route
From Lhasa by car, along State Highway 318 to Shigatse, the distance is about 300 kilometers. Normally it takes about seven hours. It goes north through Nanmulin County along the highway and continues north to Shennan Highway to reach Shenza County, from Shigatse to Shenza. About 300 kilometers in the county, it takes about a day. From Shenza County to the southwest of Wozazangpo River, trucks should be able to reach the foot of the mountain directly to establish the camp. The distance from Shenzha County to the camp is about 8 kilometers.
